Elizabeth A. Broussard
Liz Broussard was born in Cecilia, Louisiana, obtained a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Southwestern Louisiana, and moved to Houston, Texas in 1983. Having done garment sewing from a young age, quilting grabbed her interest in 1989. Wearable art and fiber art soon followed and stoked her desire to study both quilt and surface design. It is evident that scraps, dyeing, rusting, and upcycling demanded their inclusion in her passion. Her quilts have hung in the Concert Hall of Festival Hill and in Copper Shade Tree Gallery, Round Top, Texas. Small art pieces have been juried into exhibitions at the Texas Art Alliance Center of Clear Lake, Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, Copper Shade Tree Gallery, Round Top, and local quilt shows in Houston.
Her work has been featured in the books Simple Strategies for Block-Swap Quilts, Patchwork-Play Quilts, both by Lynn Roddy Brown, and Color Play (Second Edition) by Joen Wolfrom, and the magazine, Fabric Trends, Issue #3.

Judges' Bios
Connie Duffy
Connie is an award-winning quilter and a retired Army wife. She first picked up a needle and thread while watching her grandmother sew. Connie took her first sewing lesson in sixth grade and has been sewing ever since. Sewing clothes was the easiest way to get a new outfit!
Her husband, Dennis, surprised her a few weeks before their first Christmas together by taking her down to the Sears Mail Order Store and letting her choose her first machine. It was at Ft Bragg, North Carolina, that Connie learned how to make a quilt (the really old-fashioned way with cardboard templates). This quilt was a work in progress for almost 12 years!
At subsequent duty stations, Connie learned tole painting, woodworking, and silk embroidery. She came back to quilting when they moved to Texas in 1994. A non-quilting co-worker suggested they go to the International Quilt Festival one year, and it inspired Connie to work on her quilting skills. She is an active member of the Crossroads to Texas Quilt Guild. She is currently a candidate in the National Association of Certified Quilt Judges Certification Program.
