2022 Guest Speaker Lineup
August Meeting

August 23, 6:00 pm

Patricia McCartney, owner of Heavenly Threads Quilt Shop in Trinity, Texas will give a program on the history, evolution and use of Flour Sacks in quilting.

September 27, 10:00 am

Please join our Guild's very own Kathi Babcock as she tells us about the upcoming St. Mark's Raffle Quilt and shares some tips for accurate piecing for this annual service project.  Kathi will have packets of 'parts' ready for our members to take home and make a block or two.

Following our Business Meeting, Grettle Payne from Huntsville, Texas will be teaching a "Walking Foot Machine Quilting" Workshop.  Class size is limited to 20.  The cost is $30 for Guild members and $35 for non-members PLUS and additional $10 kit fee.  Grettle will teach a variety of straight-line quilting patterns, programmed machine stitches, circles and arcs, all using your home sewing machine with a walking foot.  Come and create a sampler of quilting and stitch possibilities!  Please contact our Program Chairman, Anita Todd, at 832-515-6107 to register.

October 25, 6:00 pm

You will not want to miss this one!  We are pleased to host  Laura Piland at our General Meeting. Laura is owner of Slice of Pi Quilts and is from Smithville, Missouri.  She will be joining us prior to attending Quilt Market in Houston.  Her Trunk Show is “Try Something New” where every quilt will feature a unique and different technique.

On Wednesday, October 26 at 9am, Laura will be teaching a workshop on how to make one of her beautiful 'Exploding Heart' or 'Flutterfly' quilts.  The cost of the workshop is $30 for members and $35 for non-members.

Some pre-work is required for this workshop.  Choose which quilt you want to make and purchase it from her website, www.sliceofpiquilts.com, or her Etsy shop. The pattern cost is $12 and is available as a digital download.  It is helpful if you have your fabric cut prior to the workshop.  You will also need your sewing machine and basic notions, rotary cutter and mat, pencil or washable fabric pen, and a 4 1/2" square ruler.

Please contact Anita Todd at 832-515-6107 to register.
